Terms and Definitions:
Baggage Delay Coverage

Baggage Delay can reimburse your expenses for purchasing necessary personal effects up to the maximum benefit on your plan. The coverage will apply when your checked baggage is delayed by your airline or common carrier either 12 hours or 24 hours, depending on your WTP plan's specified minimum time of delay. The length of delay is calculated starting from your arrival time at your destination. You must be a ticketed passenger of a common carrier for coverage to apply.

Sports Coverage Baggage Delay
If you have purchased Sports Coverage option with any Worldwide Trip Protector plan, you can be reimbursed up to the maximum limit of your Baggage Delay Coverage for rental equipment reimbursement if your sporting equipment has been delayed or misdirected by your common carrier.

Trip Cancellation Insurance

Trip Cancellation Insurance protects you after you book and insure your trip, but before your scheduled trip departure.
It can protect the insured traveler's prepaid trip costs up to the full cost of the trip due to covered reasons for trip disruptions between the date the policy's coverage starts and the scheduled trip departure date. These disruptions may force the cancellation of the trip.

Why Do You Need Trip Cancellation Insurance?
Between your time of travel booking and your trip departure date unforeseen disruptions can happen:

You, your traveling companion or a family member gets sick or dies.
Weather or a strike halts your Travel Supplier's operation.
You must serve on a jury or testify in court when you are due to travel.
A terrorist attack occurs in a city on your trip within 30 days of departure.
You or your travel companion is in a car accident enroute to your departure.
Your destination host dies or is hospitalized.
A natural disaster makes your destination hotel or your home uninhabitable.

Trip Cancellation Insurance protects against Cancellation Penalties
Depending on the date you cancel, your supplier may impose a Cancellation Penalty against you based on the terms & conditions of your trip. This can be part or all of your trip prepayment that is held back when you seek a refund. Trip Cancellation can protect you by reimbursing such penalties up to the full pre-paid cost of your trip.

Trip Cancellation can also pay the difference in higher per-person trip costs you might pay if your travel companion must cancel for a covered reason while you continue the trip. It can also protect the insured's prepaid trip costs up to the full cost of the trip if both decide to cancel for the covered reason of the travel companion.

Trip Interruption Insurance

Trip Interruption Insurance is protection that starts on your scheduled departure date and can provide coverage throughout your trip. It protects up to 100% or 150% of your insured, prepaid trip costs, depending on your selected Worldwide Trip Protector plan, against disruptions that can occur during your trip. You can be reimbursed for unused land or sea expenses that your supplier will not refund under the terms & conditions of your trip.

Why Do You Need Trip Interruption Insurance?
The same reasons described for needing Trip Cancellation Insurance before your departure are why you need Trip Interruption Insurance during your trip.
There can be sickness or death to you or a family member or travel companion. Or there might be disruptive bad weather, an order to appear as a court witness, a supplier strike or bankruptcy that halts travel (not available on Lite plans, a terror attack in a city you are visiting, a car accident, or a natural disaster that makes either your destination hotel or your home uninhabitable.

Missed Connection Coverage

Missed Connection coverage is available when the cancellation or delay of your regularly scheduled airline flight or other common carrier due to inclement weather or any common carrier-caused delay for three or more hours depending on plan, results in your missing the departure of your cruise, tour or other trip.

What Missed Connection Covers
Missed Connection can cover additional transportation expenses needed to catch up to and join the departed Cruise or Trip. It can cover reasonable accommodations, meal expenses and the non-refundable payments for the unused portion of your cruise or tour.

What Missed Connection Does Not Cover
Coverage will not be provided to insured individuals who are able to meet their scheduled departure but choose not to travel due to inclement weather.

Itinerary Change
Travel Insured International's comprehensive Worldwide Trip Protector and WTP Gold travel insurance plans offer an "Itinerary Change" benefit that specifically addresses cruise or tour disruptions.
Insured travelers who prepay for a non-refundable shore activity in a port of call, or a scheduled stop on a tour itinerary, but miss the activity due to a change of cruise or tour itinerary, can be reimbursed up to amount specified in their plan unless the missed activity is rescheduled during the course of the trip. The coverage means that travelers can feel secure in booking prepaid shore or tour activities even when those activities are non-refundable.

Reasons for Missed Ports; Types of Missed Activities
Disruptions of itineraries due to storms, outbreaks of illness or safety issues in a destination can create problems for passengers who prepay for excursions or other land travel activities. These shore excursions are often booked prior to the start of their cruise or tour. Travelers, for example, may pre-pay for concerts, a private guide, spectator sports events, participation sports sessions, training classes, cooking displays, nature adventures, art and culture events, or other add-on activities. Unfortunately these missed events or activities may not always be refunded, especially by tour companies that are independent of the cruise line or tour operator that is the main vacation provider.

When Itinerary Change is Not Provided?
The Itinerary Change travel insurance benefit is not provided if the prepaid event or activity is rescheduled to be offered on a later date in the itinerary, such as during a delayed port call. Additionally, insured travelers must provide proof of the change of itinerary from the cruise or tour provider, as well as proof of prepayment for the non-refundable activity that was lost as a result of the change.

Default & Bankruptcy Coverage

Worldwide Trip Protector includes in all of its plans the Trip Cancellation or Trip Interruption coverage for the default or bankruptcy of your travel supplier. The default or bankruptcy must occur more than 14 days after the effective date of your insurance plan. Your plan must have been purchased within 14 days of your initial trip deposit on Lite Expanded plans, within 21 days on WTP plans and within 30 days on Gold plans. (Not available on Lite plans)
